Not a Game of Telephone
2 Timothy 3:14-17 teaches us that Scripture is inspired by God and equips us with the truth, wisdom, and guidance we need to grow in faith and live for Him. Rather than simply accepting what we have been taught, we can study God’s Word for ourselves, become confident in its reliability, and allow it to teach, correct, and shape the way we live.

A Spot With Your Name on It
1 Kings 17:1-4 teaches us that God knows what we need and can prepare a way to care for us before we even know what lies ahead, just as He did for Elijah. When we face something new or uncertain, we can trust that God is already there, watching over us and guiding our steps.

No Clever Stories
2 Peter 1:16-21 teaches us that our faith is grounded in the eyewitness testimony of those who encountered Jesus and in Scripture inspired by the Holy Spirit, not cleverly invented stories. In a world filled with misinformation and competing voices, we can examine what we hear, trust God’s Word as our reliable source of truth, and let it guide us through uncertainty.

Asleep in the Back Seat
Proverbs 3:5 teaches us to trust God with our whole hearts, even when we cannot see where He is leading or understand what He is doing. We can bring Him our worries and questions, then rest in His love, knowing that He is in control and always knows the way.

Yield
Proverbs 3:5-6 calls us to trust the Lord with all our heart and lean not on our own understanding. A near-fatal moment in an intersection is a reminder that the road is never fully in our control, and that God sees the whole intersection while we only see our lane. Closing out the week, the question beneath it all is who is driving, and the invitation is to yield every part of life to the One who makes our paths straight.

Ask the Five Hundred
1 Corinthians 15:3-8 teaches us that Jesus’ death and resurrection are the foundation of our faith, supported by the testimony of those who witnessed Him alive. Because our hope rests on the risen Christ, we can examine the evidence, grow in confidence about what we believe, and live boldly knowing that Jesus truly conquered death.

A Path Through the Sea
Exodus 14:21-22, 31 teaches us that God has the power to make a way even when everything seems impossible, just as He made a dry path through the Red Sea for His people. When we feel stuck or afraid, we can remember His mighty power and trust that He is able to lead us through whatever lies ahead.

Call for Help
Proverbs 15:22 puts it plainly: plans fail for lack of counsel, but with many advisers they succeed. Ed shares how he and Lisa waited fifteen years into their marriage before seeking biblical counseling, and how pride is usually what keeps us from asking for help. Good counsel loves us enough to disagree with us, and the challenge is to set pride aside and make the call before a crisis hits.

Carefully Investigated
Luke 1:1-4 teaches us that our faith in Jesus is not meant to rest on stories we have simply heard, but on truth we can thoughtfully investigate and understand for ourselves. Like Luke, we can examine the evidence, ask honest questions, and study God’s Word so that our faith becomes a personal conviction built on a solid foundation.

God Stood in Between
Exodus 14:19-20 teaches us that God is our protector, standing with us in scary moments just as He stood between the Israelites and the Egyptian army. Even when life feels dark or uncertain, we can trust that God is close, guiding us with His light and reminding us that we are never alone.
