Vision

Luke 2:48-49 “When his parents saw him, they were astonished. His mother said to him, ‘Son, why have you treated us like this? Your father and I have been anxiously searching for you.’ ‘Why were you searching for me?’ he asked. ‘Didn’t you know I had to be in my Father’s house?’”

Habakkuk 2:2 “And the LORD answered me, and said, Write the vision, and make it plain upon the tables, that he may run that reads it.”

We live in a time when focus seems like an elusive commodity. Yet, if we look to the example set by Jesus during his formative years, we find a stark contrast.

At the age of 12, when most minds are clouded with indecision and distraction, Jesus chose a different path. His life was marked by a commitment to a distraction-free, vision-led existence.

It's a remarkable feat considering the constant noise and stimuli we contend with today. The relevance of this clarity cannot be overstated, especially for those of us who find ourselves in leadership roles – whether it's within our homes, workplaces, schools, or churches. As moms, business owners, students, or leaders of large organizations, the responsibility is great, and so is our influence.

A pivotal aspect of navigating this demanding role is the establishment of a clear and concise vision. It is the compass that guides us through the storm of distractions, keeping us motivated and on track toward our goals. Your vision is not just a personal pursuit; it extends to every sphere where you wield influence.

Think of a vision statement as more than just words on paper; it's a guiding force that illuminates the path ahead. It gives direction and purpose, acting as a constant reminder of the ultimate goal. In the midst of the daily chaos, it's your anchor, ensuring that you don't lose sight of the business your Heavenly Father has entrusted you to accomplish.

Consider, for a moment, how you focus your life on this divine mission. Are you easily swayed by the trivial pursuits that hold no eternal consequence? It's a question worth pondering as we strive for a life that reflects the vision set before us. Let's break free from the chains of distraction and commit to living a vision-led life, just as Jesus exemplified at the tender age of 12.

Jesus, we confess that we often find ourselves pulled in different directions, losing sight of the business you have called us to do. Today we surrender our plans under your authority and ask you to help us pursue your dreams for our lives. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
