Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart, and lean not on your own understanding.”

A college professor challenged his students – guys versus girls – with a jigsaw puzzle. Both teams were eager to win, but then came the twist. The professor gave the girls the lid of the puzzle box, providing them with a clear image of what they were supposed to create. The guys, on the other hand, had no visual guide. Can you guess who emerged victorious? Indeed, it was the girls! With the big picture in hand, they were able to assemble the puzzle with ease, while the guys struggled without any guidance.

Often, we find ourselves focusing on the minutiae of daily life or getting caught up in isolated circumstances, much like the guys trying to piece together the puzzle without a reference point. But just as the girls had the lid of the puzzle box to guide them, we have something even greater – God's plan and purpose for our lives.

When we trust in God's overarching plans and dreams for us, it's like having the ultimate picture to guide us through life's challenges. We can rest assured that every piece of our lives, every circumstance, is part of his grand design. As St. Augustine eloquently put it, "Our hearts are restless until they find their rest in him."

Let's shift our focus from the individual puzzle pieces of life to the big picture that God provides. When we align ourselves with his plan and trust in his guidance, we can find true rest and fulfillment in him.

Heavenly Father, thank you for your perfect plan and purpose for my life. Grow my faith to trust you more, to trust your sovereignty. Give me the patience to wait on you when I get impatient. Guide me through your Word. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
