Read

1 Thessalonians 5:16-18, “Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you.”

Think

There are risks involved when driving a car with poor alignment. Ignoring the initial signs can lead to tire blow-outs, ineffective braking, and problematic steering. The same is true in life. When we ignore the need to align ourselves with God, our lives begin to malfunction. That is the purpose of today’s action-packed verse:To rejoice always doesn’t mean constant happiness. Jesus certainly dealt with times of sorrow and discomfort. But, no matter what, we can have joy because we know the Lord is in control. To pray without ceasing doesn’t mean that God wants us to walk around with our eyes closed and hands folded. It’s about humility and maintaining an attitude of dependence on God as we move through each day.Giving thanks in all circumstances doesn’t mean we live in denial. It is believing that God works through all things for our good and His glory. It’s trusting that God is going to guide our steps and lead us out of dark times into His glorious light. How is your alignment? Have you discovered the will of God in Christ Jesus? If so, rejoice and give thanks!
