Leviticus 27:1-34Numbers 1:1-54
Numbers 1:2, “Take a census of the whole Israelite community by their clans and families, listing every man by name, one by one.”Organization pros say the first step in getting organized is knowing what you have. We often discover we have more than what we realized and rediscover things we’ve forgotten about. And so it was with the Israelites! After leaving Egypt so abruptly, it was time to organize this group of former slaves into the nation of Israel. God commissioned Moses and Aaron to perform a census of these nomadic people crossing the desert to the Promised Land. This census revealed a couple of things. They discovered just who and how many were among them within each established tribe, and they rediscovered that they were a part of the blessing God promised to Abraham. They had grown from a family of 70 into a great and mighty nation of a million people, and they would soon rediscover that they didn’t have to fear the battles ahead. There are times when we all need to organize, to regroup. We need to discover the blessings in our lives that we weren’t seeing and rediscover the relationship with God that we may have forgotten to cherish. It’s in that relationship that we find we are mighty in His power, and we don’t have to fear.
Heavenly Father, Thank You for Your presence in my life. Because You are a God of organization, I am confident that You have my back even amid life's uncertainties. Help me walk in confidence as I share You with others. Amen.
