Mindphone
1 Peter 1:3 "Therefore, with minds that are alert and fully sober, set your hope on the grace to be brought to you when Jesus Christ is revealed at his coming."
Think
Consider your mind as a sophisticated device, a mindphone, if you will. It's the constant companion you carry, the organizer of your days, the informant shaping your perspectives, and the architect of the life you aspire to live. The beauty lies in its programmable nature – compartmentalized, maintained, and under your control.
As the custodian of your mindphone, you've curated it over the years. Messages about yourself, others, and the world have found a home in its digital realms. From the whispers of friends and family to the profound truths of God, your mindphone houses a myriad of labels, inner thoughts, and repetitive phrases. It echoes the repercussions of past experiences, both real and distorted perceptions.
What you choose to feed your mindphone matters profoundly. The feed turns into feelings – the overwhelming rush of texts, the anxiety stemming from critical companions, the waning belief in God due to neglecting precious moments with him. It's an unseen epidemic of our time – the neglect of our mental space, a failure to mind our minds. The mindphone waits in our back pocket, waiting to be renewed.
Our mindphone often operates without a filter, inundated with spam and unproductive messages in our mindmailbox. Yet, it doesn't have to remain in this cluttered state. There's hope for a digital detox, a mindful cleansing of the information we allow to shape our thoughts. Let's take a moment to reclaim control over our mindphones. Recognize the need for renewal, sift through the clutter, and intentionally program our minds with truths that uplift, inspire, and align with God's wisdom. In this journey, may we find the peace and clarity that comes from minding our minds.
Apply
Capture your thoughts and direct them toward God's truth. Say this three times a day: I have the mind of Christ. I have the righteousness of Christ. I'm accepted in Christ. I'm forgiven in Christ. I'm gifted in Christ. I'm strengthened in Christ.
Pray
God, guide us in the choices that we feed our minds. Help us to see the eternal impact these choices have on our emotions and destiny. Grant us the mindfulness to mind our minds and intentionally place them around what is "true, lovely, pure, just." Help us to be a sanctuary for you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
