"To be blessed simply means to be on the receiving end of the tangible and intangible favor of God." – Pastor Ed Young
Have you ever paused to think about the blessings in your life—the ones you can touch, like a warm meal or a hug from a friend, and the ones you can’t, like peace in chaos or forgiveness when you least deserve it? Ephesians 1:3 says, “Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who has blessed us in Christ with every spiritual blessing in the heavenly places.” These blessings are eternal, rooted in God’s love and grace, and they’re offered freely to you.
Thomas Watson, the old Puritan preacher, once said, “Blessedness lies in the fruition of God.” Have you felt that? Those moments when your heart rests in him—when his love feels tangible, even if life isn’t perfect? That’s the core of living blessed: knowing God, trusting him, and seeing his hand in every moment.
I’ve often overlooked the blessings right in front of me, chasing after what I don’t have. But God’s blessings go far deeper. His peace shows up in my storms, his purpose shines in my ordinary days, and his grace covers my failures. Tim Keller captures it beautifully: “We are more sinful and flawed than we ever dared believe, yet more loved and accepted in Christ than we ever dared hope.” That’s his favor—a love so personal it changes everything.
But here’s the challenge: blessings aren’t just for us to hoard. Another Puritan preacher Jeremiah Burroughs said it well: “Christians are vessels of mercy filled to the brim so that they might overflow to others.” Who in your life needs a taste of God’s favor through you today?
Take a moment now. Thank God for his blessings—both the ones you see and the ones you’ve missed. Then ask God, “Who can I bless today?” Living blessed isn’t just about receiving; it’s about letting his favor flow through you to others.

Pray
God, thank you for the blessings you pour into my life, both seen and unseen. Open my eyes to recognize your favor and help me live with gratitude. Show me how to be a blessing to others today, reflecting your love in all I do. May my life bring glory to you. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
