It’s Not About Me

Psalm 100, "Shout for joy to the Lord, all the earth.Worship the Lord with gladness; come before him with joyful songs.Know that the Lord is God.It is he who made us, and we are his; we are his people, the sheep of his pasture. Enter his gates with thanksgiving and his courts with praise; give thanks to him and praise his name. For the Lord is good and his love endures forever; his faithfulness continues through all generations."

Duke’s basketball team is known as the “Cameron Crazies” (for their arena and their behavior). When Duke plays their arch rival North Carolina the fans are given these instructions: “This is the game you have waited for. No excuses. Give everything you’ve got. Cameron (Arena) should never be less than painfully loud tonight.” The allegiance is serious. The writer of Psalm 100 took his allegiance seriously and wants us to do the same. God’s goodness and mercy should motivate us like it did David to freely worship and express our love and grateful heart. This may mean those of us that are less bombastic have to push back the boundaries of restraint and be more expressive in our praise to God. Maybe those who are so expressive that they miss the beauty of silence may need to learn to listen and reflect. Whatever your style maybe it is time to worship the Creator, Redeemer, Shepherd, and celebrate all He has done.

If your comfort zone if quiet put a worship song on and sing out loud-praise out loud! If your style is bombastic maybe you can grab your journal and sit and listen for God in the stillness.

God thank you for who you are- thank you for your faithfulness. Thank you that you want to hear my voice worshipping you.
