His Name
Read
Acts 1:8, “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
Think
In Newton’s law of physics, he stated that for every action there is an equal and opposite reaction. The same could be said about the name of Jesus! Since His birth, no other name has received so many reactions. Many watched Him teach, perform miracles, and speak with an authority that could only come from God, and passionately followed Him. But there were others who opposed Him in spite of what they saw.
In Acts 1:8, Jesus told His followers they were to be His witnesses to the world about what He did and said. Peter and the other disciples were some of those witnesses who boldly communicated even in the face of opposition. They couldn’t hide the truth ... THEY HAD TO SHARE!
Even today, the name of Jesus causes a reaction within everyone who hears it. What is your reaction to that name? Does your relationship with Jesus cause you to want to be a “witness” for Him? Or does His name create tension and conviction in you? If you are open to Him, His power can change everything!
Act
If you know Jesus, ask for opportunities to share Him with others. If you are curious about Jesus, ask Him to reveal Himself to you and bring people around you who can tell you more.
Pray
God, thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to die for me. Help me to never take His name for granted. Give me opportunities to share Him with others so they, too, can know the power of His name. In Jesus’ name, Amen!
