Fighting from Victory

August 25, 2023

Read

Ephesians 6:10 "Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might."

Think

Imagine an athlete stepping onto the field, already wearing the gold medal, assured of the victory before the race even starts. As crazy as that sounds, that's the reality for us as Christ-followers. Every battle we face isn't about securing victory, but celebrating one that's already ours.

The cross was not just a moment of sacrifice, but the definitive declaration of triumph over sin, death, and every spiritual force that opposes us. When Jesus proclaimed, "It is finished," he wasn't signaling his defeat, but the completion of his victorious mission and purpose.

This doesn't mean we won't face challenges or difficulties. It does, however, change the way we face them. No longer are we the underdogs scrapping for a slim chance at success; we stand as representatives of the triumphant King, pushing back against the remnants of a defeated enemy.

With this mindset, our frustrations, challenges, and battles take on a new light. They become opportunities to enforce Christ's victory, demonstrating the power of his resurrection in our lives and showing the world the strength we have from a relationship with Jesus.

Apply

In your prayers this week, instead of approaching God with the mindset of asking for victory, start by thanking him for the victory you already have in Christ. As challenges arise, remind yourself that you're not fighting for a win but from the position of one who has already won. Let this shift in perspective encourage your faith and actions.

Pray

Father, I am profoundly grateful for the victory I have in Christ. Help me to live from this truth, standing firm in the confidence of his triumph. Let my life be a testimony to your power and the victory that is already mine. In Jesus' name. Amen.
