He guides me along the right paths for His name’s sake. Think

God called David a man after His own heart. What a compliment! Throughout his life, he exhibited immense bravery, achieved success, wrote many of the most recognizable Scripture passages, and was one of Israel’s greatest kings. But for as many times as David had bright mountaintop moments, he also experienced dark valleys. A jealous king sought to kill him; his son betrayed him; he dealt with harrowing opposition and spent considerable time on the run. And like us, he dealt with fear and uncertainty.What set David apart was his unwavering faith and desire for intimacy with God. Although he was a mighty king who led massive armies into battle, he understood that, before God, he was merely a sheep in need of a shepherd. His wholehearted confidence came from experience. He had a history of seeing God fight for him, provide, and comfort him even in the darkest of moments.Just as God was with David, He is with you! The same God that assuaged David’s fear by His presence is your God. The same Shepherd, Jesus Christ, died and rose again to bring you life, to free you from enemy’s clutch. Know this! And the next time you’re gripped by fear, don’t get hysterical, go historical and BE STILL. Rest in the comfort of your Savior’s arms.

Act

Right now, be still before God and quiet your mind for one to two minutes. Simply rest in His presence and thank Him for being in control.

Pray

Dear God, Amid all of the noise happening in the world right now, I thank You for being the Prince of Peace. When I walk through days or spend nights feeling anxious over what’s to come, please remind me of Your past faithfulness to fuel my faith looking forward. Amen.
