The Danger In Desire

Desire is a great motivator. Many of us are wired with wants, hedging on specific hopes, and driven by thoughts of dreams coming true. We emotionally invest in our idea of "best!" We feel happy about getting what we desire, but when things don't go our way, we can quickly move through a gambit of other emotions like sadness, anger, and anxiety.

In this sermon, Pastor Sam Kelly teaches that desires are a good thing because they are a God thing – He placed our greatest wants and hopes in our hearts. But desires can quickly go haywire when we lose sight of God and lose control – there's danger ahead when a desire for someone or something supersedes our desire for intimacy with God. Since we are finite and God and His gifted desires are never-ending, the only solution is to lay them at the foot of the Cross and humble ourselves before our great God!
