How to Win Summer as a Parent: Trading Drift for Intention
Summer starts fast. One minute it's the last day of school; the next, your house is louder, messier, and somehow always out of snacks. And if you're not intentional, summer can drift. Days blur together. Screens increase. Patience decreases.
But Scripture says, Be very careful, then, how you live... making the most of every opportunity (Ephesians 5:15-16). Summer isn't just something to survive — it's something to steward. We should maximize each moment and squeeze the most out of every opportunity. So how do you actually win the summer?
Start with a Simple Plan
You don't need a packed schedule — just a clear direction. What do you want your family to feel this summer? Fun? Rest? Growth?
Set a Few Non-Negotiables
Church. Family meals. Bedtime rhythm. When everything is flexible, kids feel it.
Be Present in the Moments That Matter
Summer memories aren't built in big trips alone — they're built in everyday moments.
Ask your family this week, "What do we want this summer to feel like?" Write down two or three words and let that guide your decisions. Because a great summer doesn't happen by accident — it happens by intention.
