Fellowship Church teams up with Christian Life Ministries to use Elevate Kids Leadership Program in Uganda

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Christian Life Ministries is using Elevate’s E Leadership program to train up the next generation of leaders in Uganda. Grapevine, Texas November 05, 2012

Fellowship Church, lead by Pastor Ed Young of Grapevine Texas is excited to announce that they are providing Elevate to Eve Senyonga from Christian Life Ministries tools and curriculum to support children’s character training in a Ugandan orphanage this summer. As the country’s economy slows and HIV rates rise, the need for future leaders is great. According to UNICEF statistics, the percentage of children who attend primary school drops from an average of 82% of the population to 17% attendance in secondary school. Christian Life Ministries wants to change that statistic.

“We want to partner with Christian Life Ministries in Uganda because we believe in what they are doing. We believe that every child can be a leader, no matter their age or background,” said Pastor Mike Johnson, Executive Producer of Elevate.

Elevate sent the E Leadership Program, complete with leadership videos, study questions and awards, to be used at the school orphanage run by the Christian Life Ministries (CLM). This school, unlike other orphanage schools, is also open to children in the community. The CLM currently provides schooling for over 900 Ugandan children. Children will watch the leadership videos during their morning assembly, and get the chance to put the leadership principles into practice throughout the week in their classrooms.

“I’m so excited for them to get this character training in their lives and develop them into leaders,” Senyonga said.

CLM’s vision is to transform these kids into the future leaders of Uganda. “When someone told us about this program developing the characteristics that we want these kids to have, we were so excited. This is what we’ve been looking for because we’ve been doing all the other things you should do for children, but have been having challenges developing their character. So this leadership program is going to help us achieve our goal,” said Eve Senyonga, Co-Founder of Christian Life Ministries and Orphan Director.

Ed Young Discusses Sex and Intimacy in Newest Book

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pastors Ed Young and Lisa Young tackle difficult subject in newest book.

The Texas and Miami-based pastor Ed Young discusses sex and intimacy in New York Times best-selling book “Sexperiment.”

Grapevine, TX, August 1, 2012—

In their latest book SexperimentEd Young and Lisa Young tackle a subject that is thought a lot about, but that we don’t often think deeply enough about—sex.  Specifically, this book looks at the power and purpose of sex within the context of marriage. Through this book, readers discover the blessing and design of sex done God’s way. Because when sex is thought about the right way, couples can discover how to do it the right.

As Ed Young plainly states it, “Sex is between the ears before it’s ever between the legs.”

But cheating has become more and more the norm, as companies are profiting by making a business out of what has been in the past almost inexcusable behavior.

As website founder and owner Noel Biderman has stated in the past,“More couples fighting over finances and unable to afford divorce, they look to stray. The entrepreneur said starting his web site was a business decision because there is a marketplace for the service.”

Even with the decline of happy, healthy marriages, Ed Young believes that so much difficulty in a marriage is a result of an intimacy issue between couples, and that a healthy sex life strengthens the bond and increases communication. “Sex isn’t just physical. It’s relational, emotional, psychological and spiritual,” says Ed Young.

Sexperiment (Faithworks/Harper Collins) is the newest book from Pastors Ed Young and Lisa Young. Other titles by the authors are available at CreativePastors.com.

Support for Truett Cathy’s Stance on Gay Marriage

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Pastor Ed Young Speaks Out in Defense of Chick-Fil-A CEO Truett Cathy’s Statement on Gay Marriage.

Ed Young voices his strong support for Truett Cathy’s stance on gay marriage, and applauds Billy Graham for his defense of Cathy and his reiteration of a higher truth.

Grapevine, TX, July 30, 2012—

The latest in the gay marriage movement is focused on Chick-Fil-A CEO Truett Cathy’s defense of traditional marriage and the mayor of Chicago’s attempted ban of the popular restaurant in his city. Upon hearing the news of this story, Pastor Ed Young of Fellowship Church applauded Cathy’s strong stance. The best-selling author of Sexperiment: 7 Days to Lasting Intimacy pointed to Mr. Cathy’s statement as something that needs to be heard in today’s relativistic world.

Ed Young said, “I’m glad to see such a public figure stand up to say, ‘This is what God says about marriage, and this is the truth I’m sticking to.’ Mr. Cathy isn’t concerned with what society says. He isn’t concerned about losing business because of his stance. And I applaud that. He stands for something higher…God’s truth. More people could learn from that example.”

Pastor Ed Young isn’t the only one to speak out in defense of Cathy’s stance. Renowned evangelist Billy Graham released a statement last week in which he said, "Each generation faces different issues and challenges, but our standard must always be measured by God's word.”

“Billy Graham is right,” said Ed Young. Recently, Ed Young preached about this very topic in a controversial and timely message on gay marriage. The message, delivered during a series titled “Cool Aid” drew the attention of local and national media.

Ed Young is known to take on the tough topics when preaching. And as the founding and senior pastor of one of the most attended churches in North America over the past years, he doesn’t plan on backing down.

“We’re here to help people see the truth – God’s truth. That isn’t always easy. People won’t always agree with it. But that doesn’t mean we back down from saying ‘This is truth.’ We have to love people enough to tell them the truth, because the truth, as Jesus said, sets us free.”

Condolences & Comments about Mass Shooting

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Pastor Ed Young Appears on Fox News to Offer Condolences and Comments about Mass Shooting in Aurora, CO.

Ed Young, pastor of Dallas and Miami-based Fellowship Church, advices viewers to move from the “Why?” to the “What Now?” as he offers words of hope and healing during national tragedy.

Grapevine, TX, July 24, 2012—

Pastor Ed Young appeared on Fox News this past Sunday morning to offer words of condolence and purpose as he spoke with a host about the tragic mass shooting at a Colorado movie theatre last Friday. Ed Young opened the interview with the below response when asked how we [human population] can make sense of this tragedy:

“We live in a fallen world; bad things happen to good people and innocent people-pain is hard to grapple with,” explains Ed Young.

But Pastor Ed Young goes on with a word of encouragement, “We need to move rapidly from the ”Why?” question to the “What?” question.  Not just “Why me?” but “What should we do because of this?’”

The interview continued as the discussion turned to Ed Young’s recent statements about the effects of the internet on individuals. “We need to be careful whether we are adults, children or students when we go online,” says Ed Young.

Ed Young then offers an answer to the questions many people have been asking concerning this situation and other questions that may come up as people face difficult times and unanswered situations: “Why me? Why am I here? God has answers for this.  God wants to give us all a purpose in the mist of pain,” says Ed Young.

Ed Young closed the interview by quoting Francis Schaeffer:Whenever you have a culture that no longer has any absolute truth, you have a culture that bases everything on relativism and particulars- the result in that culture is chaos.”

The interview ended as Pastor Ed Young agreed that thoughts and prayers were continuing in millions of churches in America. The complete interview can be seen on Ed Young’s blog.

Suspect James Holmes is accused of opening fire in a Colorado movie theatre, Friday, July 23, killing 12 and injuring 58 more.

Elevate Cirriculum Translated into French

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Ed Young and Elevate Deliver Children’s Ministry Curriculum Translated into French.

Elevate and Ed Young see curriculum translated into different languages as both meeting a need in the country of Haiti and a new chapter in ministry.

July 13, 2012 - Grapevine, TX—

Elevate children’s curriculum was used at an orphanage in Haiti in April, 2012—the first time the creative program has been translated into French.  C3 Global, a relational network of pastors lead by Pastor Ed Young, approached Elevate after its trip to support several orphanages damaged during the Haiti earthquake in 2010. C3 Global set an objective to not just feed stomachs, but to feed souls and change lives long-term through teaching leadership skills to several orphanages it supports in Haiti. The need for a children’s curriculum in the native French language opened the door to Elevate offering this translation.

At the time, Elevate curriculum only existed in in one language, English, but the need in Haiti made the long-time goal of translation a reality for Elevate.  “We were able to actually start on our vision to translate earlier than we anticipated because of the needs in Haiti and the commitment to make a world impact from our Senior Pastor Ed Young and his wife Lisa,” explained Mike Johnson, Executive Producer of Elevate.

With the intent of creating a resource for the orphanage in Haiti, the project expanded to translate the curriculum into French and Spanish, and develop an additional Elevate resource product.  Taking Elevate to Haiti marked the beginning of a new phase for the creative children’s curriculum.  After completing the French translation process for the Elevate Kids series “Entourage,” Elevate propelled into Spanish translation--the language Elevate staff believe will provide the best opportunities to reach more kids.  After translating “Entourage” into French and Spanish, the next two series (“Great Race” and “Allaso Ranch”) were translated into Spanish, by partnering with Transperfect for Elevate Kids (ages 6-12).

As Elevate continues to discover the opportunities created through translation, the curriculum producers look back on the Haiti mission as a bright spot on the Elevate timeline.  As often happens, a specific need sparked an entire new chapter of ministry.  With the door wide open to new people, places, and cultures, Elevate anticipates more ways of reaching children through churches and missions around the world.

Fellowship Church Welcomes Chris Kyle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Ed Young and Fellowship Church welcome Chris Kyle, author of American Sniper, as part of a huge 4th of July Fireworks Celebration.

Food, Fun, and Fireworks are all part of this community event on June 30.

Grapevine, TX, June 23, 2012—

Ed Young’s Fellowship Church is hosting a giant 4th of July event this Independence Day weekend. As part of this outdoor, family-friendly event, Ed Young will be interviewing Chris Kyle, decorated military hero and author of the New York Times best selling book American Sniper.

Pastor Young says, “As a nation, we enjoy some of the most amazing freedoms and opportunities. Those opportunities and that freedom have been paid for by so many men and women. This weekend, we’re welcoming one of the greatest American military heroes to share his experience. And we’re going to see from a unique perspective what that freedom means and the responsibilities we have as a result.”

The evening begins with a very special start to this weekend celebration, an interview with military hero Chief Chris Kyle. Pastor Ed Young has drawn crowds in the past with huge events surrounding interviews with celebrities such as Bethany Hamilton and most recently hip-hop mogul Rev Run, but this conversation with Kyle might be the most interesting so far.

Kyle is a former United States Navy Seal and the deadliest sniper in United States military history. Most recently, Kyle has written New York Times best selling book, American Sniper, which is an autobiographical account of his time in the military.

After the interview, the event continues outside with food and festivities for the entire family.  Food will be available from local vendors and food trucks, and bounce houses for the kids to play in. After dusk, fireworks will be shot off over the lake behind the church.

The celebration will begin at 6:00pm on Saturday, June 30, with the fireworks show starting at 9:00pm. There is no charge for the event; food and drinks will be available for purchase. Chief Chris Kyle will be joining Pastor Ed Young at all weekend services.

Ed Young Welcomes Military Hero Chris Kyle

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE:

Pastor Ed Young welcomes American Sniper author and military hero Chris Kyle to Fellowship Church.

Fellowship Church is hosting a special 4th of July event June 30-July 1.

Grapevine, Texas, June 22, 2012—

Ed Young and Fellowship Church are known for big events, and this 4th of July is no exception.  As part of this Independence Day weekend event, called Freedom Experience, Ed Young will be interviewing Chief Chris Kyle, decorated military hero and author of the New York Times best seller American Sniper.

With a documented 160 kills, Chief Chris Kyle is the deadliest sniper in American history. Chief Kyle, a Navy SEAL and the recipient of five Bronze Stars and two Silver Stars, served four combat tours in Operation Iraqi Freedom and elsewhere.  While serving in Iraq, he earned the nickname “Al-Shaitan Ramad” (translated The Devil of Ramadi) from insurgents, but among his Navy SEAL team, he is known as “The Legend.”

Ed Young and Fellowship Church are excited to welcome this decorated hero on this special holiday weekend.  Chief Kyle’s story of family, country, and the cost of freedom is both interesting and inspiring.

“There is no better way to celebrate our country and honor those who have paid so dearly for our freedom, than to hear from an American hero who has been on the front lines,” says Ed Young, Senior Pastor of Fellowship Church.

In addition to this special guest, Ed Young and Fellowship Church will be having a huge outdoor, family-friendly event featuring a fireworks show over the lake behind the church, food and other outdoor activities. Food options include local vendors and food trucks, and several bounce houses will be on site for kids to play in.
