Scripture Before Screens

August 16, 2026

Romans 12:1-2 calls for transformation rather than information — a mind renewed instead of a life conformed to the pattern of this world. An honest look at your last seven posts, songs, and conversations reveals where your heart actually is, and no algorithm or feed can renew it. The week ends with a rhythm rather than a rule: open the Word before you unlock the phone.

Whom Shall I Send?

August 16, 2026

Isaiah 6:6-8 ends with God asking a question into a room—"whom shall I send?"—and the man who answers is the same one who three verses earlier said he had unclean lips. What changed was verse 7: the coal, the guilt taken away. Isaiah says yes not out of confidence in himself but out of what he just received, because grace is the only fuel that lasts. The question was never "am I good enough to be sent," but "have you seen Him, and have you taken what He offers?"

Why the Birds Are Never Late

August 16, 2026

Matthew 6:25-26 points up at the birds—they don't plant gardens or store food in barns, but God feeds them every morning anyway. So Jesus asks the most important question: aren't you worth so much more than a bird? If your stomach is twisted up over a new school year, remember that the same God who never forgets to feed the birds knows your name and goes to school with you.

Breaking Free From Envy

1 Corinthians 13:4 reminds us that love does not envy, teaching us to replace jealousy with gratitude and trust in God’s perfect plan. When we let go of envy, we open our hearts to joy, contentment, and the freedom to genuinely celebrate others, knowing that God’s blessings are abundant and intentional for each of us.

Love That Doesn’t Snap

1 Corinthians 13:4a and Exodus 34:6 remind us that true love is patient, reflecting God’s own enduring, gracious love toward us. In a world that rushes and reacts, we are called to slow down, extend grace, and practice love that waits, listens, and perseveres.

What Is Love

1 Corinthians 12:31b and John 13:34-35 remind us that love is not just a feeling but an intentional action—choosing patience, kindness, and forgiveness even when it's difficult. Paul calls this “the most excellent way” because true love reflects Christ’s selfless love and has the power to transform our relationships and daily interactions.

Step Into The Zone

2 Corinthians 9:6 teaches that living in God's zone of blessing requires action—sowing generously, sharing boldly, and serving humbly. When we give, share our faith, and serve others, we step into a life of purpose, peace, and divine impact, trusting God to multiply our efforts for His glory.

Living In the Zone: Mastering Money, Not Loving It

1 Timothy 6:17 reminds us to place our trust in God, not wealth, as He alone provides true security and joy. Living in the zone means mastering money rather than loving it—seeing it as a tool for God's purposes, trusting Him to provide, and experiencing the peace that comes from relying on Him, not material gain.

Embrace It

Matthew 14:28-29 shows that stepping out in faith, like Peter walking on water, allows us to experience God’s power and purpose beyond our comfort zones. Living in the zone means trusting Jesus fully, letting go of fear, and embracing the extraordinary life He has planned for us.

Ripple Effect

2 Corinthians 9:8 reminds us that when we give with a heart aligned to God’s purposes, He multiplies our impact beyond what we can see. Even small acts of generosity—our time, talents, or resources—create a ripple effect, transforming lives and advancing His kingdom in ways only He can orchestrate.

Who’s Leading

Matthew 6:24 warns that we cannot serve both God and money—one will always lead. When we trust God with our resources and give Him our first and best, we break free from the grip of materialism, allowing money to serve us rather than control us, and opening our lives to His greater blessings.

Heart Placement

Matthew 6:21 teaches that our hearts follow what we treasure, making tithing a step of faith that shifts our trust from material things to God. By prioritizing generosity, we break free from anxiety over money, embrace God as our provider, and experience the peace and freedom that come from living with an open heart.

Living In The Zone

Malachi 3:10 reminds us that tithing is an act of faith, acknowledging God's ownership and inviting His blessings. Just as stretching improves physical well-being, giving the first 10% of our income to God strengthens our trust in His provision, aligns our hearts with His purposes, and opens the door to His abundant blessings.
