Matthew 3:13-17 teaches us through Jesus’ baptism that obedience flows from relationship and love, not from trying to earn God’s approval. Because God’s love comes before our performance, we can courageously take public steps of faith and live like we belong to Jesus.

1 Samuel 3:19 teaches us that God stayed with Samuel as he grew, turning one moment of listening into a lifelong walk with Him. As we keep listening, following, and staying close to God each day, He remains with us and grows our friendship with Him over a lifetime.

Galatians 5:22-23 hands us a checklist: love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. Anyone can talk a good game, but the proof is in the produce, and the fruit of the Spirit shows up over time when no one is keeping score. Use it to evaluate the person you're dating, but hold it up as a mirror to your own life first.

Luke 2:4-11 teaches us that God faithfully keeps His promises and, through Jesus, chose to come near to ordinary people rather than remain distant. Because God came to us first, we can respond with wonder and trust, knowing that Jesus is the Savior for everyone.

1 Samuel 3:10 teaches us to approach God with a quiet, listening heart like Samuel, ready to hear what He wants to say. As we pray, we can make space to be still and pay attention to God’s truth through Scripture and reminders that reflect His ways.

2 Corinthians 5:17 declares that anyone in Christ is a new creation: the old is gone and the new is here. Being raised in church, believing God exists, or calling yourself spiritual isn't the same as being transformed, and a real faith story has a clear before and after. The invitation is to know your own turning point and to look for that same evidence of new life in the person you date.

Luke 15:4-7 teaches us that God does not measure people by numbers—each lost person matters deeply to Him, and heaven rejoices when even one turns back to God. Because Jesus came after us with that same love, we can faithfully pursue and invite our one person while trusting God with the outcome.

1 Samuel 3:8-9 teaches us that God often uses wise, caring people to help us recognize His voice and grow closer to Him. Like Samuel, we can listen to trusted believers, ask questions, and learn from others as we grow in hearing and following God.

2 Corinthians 6:14-15 warns against being yoked together with unbelievers, and it's a word of protection, not restriction. It's easy to get dazzled by a few shiny features, but the most important question about the person you're dating is who is behind the wheel of their life. When two people pull in different spiritual directions, they end up going in circles, so don't let the shine make a decision only discernment should make.

Romans 10:13-15 teaches us that people hear the good news of Jesus because someone is willing to go, speak, and share it with them. Because someone once brought that good news to us, we can become the next link in the chain by courageously bringing it to someone else.
