Ask the Right Questions
August 17, 2026
Nehemiah 1:1-4 opens not with a plan but with a question. Before Nehemiah builds anything, he investigates, pulling his brothers aside to ask about Jerusalem. The devotional frames asking as the first law of leadership, an A.S.K. posture of Always Seeking Knowledge, and reminds us that the right question, even one that breaks our heart, is often the doorway God uses to move us from comfort into action and prayer.

Here Am I
August 17, 2026
Isaiah 6:8-10 is five words and a volunteer: "Here am I. Send me"—said before Isaiah knew he was signing up for an assignment that would be hard and, for long stretches, look like it wasn't working. He could answer that fast because he knew who was asking; you're not saying yes to the details, you're saying yes to the person. And notice how small his words are—not a resume, just a location. God has never asked for a finished person, just a present one.

Worry Can't Add a Minute
August 17, 2026
Matthew 6:27 asks a question the crowd couldn't answer: can worrying add a single hour to your life? Nope—you can't worry yourself taller or faster. Worry feels busy and important, but it's like pouring a cup of water into a bucket every time your mind spins; by the end of the day you're just carrying something heavy for no reason. Jesus wasn't fussing at you—He was setting you free. You were made to walk light, holding your Father's hand.

Almost Here
Luke 1:38 reminds us that faith isn't about having all the answers, but about being open to God's presence and purposes—just as Mary surrendered her plans in trust, we too are invited to slow down, listen, and say “yes” to God's quiet work in our lives during this sacred season of Advent.

He Has Come
Galatians 4:4–5 declares that at just the right moment, God sent His Son to redeem us and make us His own—not just forgiving our sins, but adopting us into His family. The arrival of Jesus means we are no longer waiting for rescue; love has come, and our identity is now rooted in being fully known, fully wanted, and forever His.

Come and See
John 1:45–46 invites us to move beyond skepticism and assumptions with a simple call to “come and see”—reminding us that true encounter with Jesus happens not through perfect understanding, but through honest pursuit. Even when God shows up in unexpected places, the journey toward Him always leads to transformation for those willing to take the step.

Peace When Nothing Settles
Philippians 4:7 assures us that God's peace, which surpasses all understanding, will guard our hearts and minds—not by removing the chaos, but by anchoring us in Christ's steady presence. True peace isn't found in perfect circumstances, but in trusting the Prince of Peace who draws near and holds us even when life doesn't make sense.

No Room, Still Received
Revelation 3:20 reminds us that Jesus doesn’t force His way into our lives but gently knocks, longing to dwell with us in intimate, daily fellowship—even when our lives feel too full or unworthy. Just as He entered a crowded Bethlehem through a humble manger, He still seeks space in the overlooked corners of our hearts, transforming whatever welcomes Him.

Joy in Low Places
1 Samuel 2:8 reveals that God delights in lifting the lowly, and the Christmas story reminds us that true joy is found not in status or circumstance, but in God's nearness to us—even in our most overlooked and broken places. Just as He met the shepherds in the fields, He meets us in our mess, offering joy that transforms us from within.

Waiting Isn’t Wasting
Romans 8:25 reminds us that waiting is not a sign of wasted time, but of active hope—an invitation to trust God's perfect timing and allow Him to form us while we wait. Just as silence prepared the way for Christ’s arrival, our seasons of delay may be holy ground where God is deepening our faith and sharpening our vision for what’s to come.

Interrupted Plans
Matthew 1:20–21 reminds us that God often meets us in the middle of our disrupted plans, inviting us—like Joseph—to trust His greater purpose even when we don’t fully understand. When life feels uncertain or off-script, His quiet presence and redirection can be the very doorway to something far bigger than we imagined.

What Are You Waiting For?
Lamentations 3:25–26 teaches us that waiting on God is not wasted time, but a sacred process of trusting His goodness and timing—where hope is formed not through outcomes, but through drawing closer to Him in the middle of uncertainty.

When Hope Feels Fragile
Romans 15:13 reminds us that even when our hope feels fragile, God—the true source of hope—can fill us with joy and peace through trust in Him, allowing the Holy Spirit to turn our quiet surrender into overflowing, resilient hope.
