What’s in Your Hand?

September 5, 2026

In Exodus 4:1-5 and 10-12, God doesn't ask Moses what he wishes he had. He asks what Moses is already holding, and the answer is an ordinary shepherd's staff. Thrown down and surrendered, that piece of wood becomes an instrument of God's authority. When Moses protests that he is slow of speech, God points back to the One who made his mouth. It was never about ability; it's about availability.

Two or Three

September 5, 2026

Matthew 18:19-20 promises Jesus shows up when two or three gather in His name—not because bigger groups get more of God, but because something is different when it's not just you. You'll skip a workout alone but not when someone's waiting; prayer is the first thing you drop by yourself and the last thing you drop with a friend. So the whole assignment is simple: find one person, make it stupidly simple, and send the text today—because two students praying at a school is exactly what Acts 1 looked like before Acts 2.

A Cup That Overflows

September 5, 2026

Matthew 5:16 closes the week with a picture: an empty cup can't pour anything out, but a full one can't help overflowing. All week God filled your cup with truth—you're known, made on purpose, deeply loved—so a kid that full has kindness to spare and doesn't fall apart when someone's mean. Your good deeds are just your full cup spilling over, pointing people to the One who fills you.

John 18

John 18:38 and John 8:31-32 remind us that truth is not relative but absolute, as embodied in Jesus Christ. Just as a seatbelt protects us in a crash, the truth of Jesus offers security and freedom in life's challenges. Embrace His teachings, even when they feel restrictive, and find true freedom and stability in His unchanging truth.

John 16, 17

John 17:20-23 teaches that our lives should display God’s love and unity, reflecting Christ to the world. Just as a catalog showcases products, we are to showcase the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, and more—so others can see God’s character in us. Live in a way that draws others to the hope found in Jesus.

John 15

John 15:2 reminds us that God's pruning, though sometimes painful, is necessary for spiritual growth. Just as a gardener prunes a plant to encourage more fruit, God removes anything in our lives that hinders our development in Christ-like character. Trust in His process, knowing it leads to greater fruitfulness and a deeper connection with Jesus, the true Vine.

John 14

John 14:1 encourages us to trust in God and Jesus, especially during times of fear and uncertainty. When life's challenges feel overwhelming, our faith in God's promises provides peace and stability. John 12, 13

John 12:32 teaches that true freedom comes from the cross, where Jesus' sacrifice offers eternal life. Like the Statue of Liberty symbolizes freedom, the cross provides lasting hope for all who believe. Turn to Jesus and receive His gift of salvation.

John 11

John 11:6 shows that God's silence invites us to deeper trust and understanding. When Jesus delayed visiting Lazarus, it was a chance for Mary and Martha to grow in faith. Similarly, in our waiting, we should trust God's timing and recognize His presence, even without immediate answers.

John 9, 10

John 10:10-11 reminds us that Jesus, the Good Shepherd, offers us an abundant life and lays down His life for us, protecting us from the enemy who seeks to steal, kill, and destroy. Trusting in His unwavering presence and care, we find strength and hope, especially during hard seasons, and truly know the Shepherd who guides and sustains us.

John 8

John 8:31-32 teaches us that true discipleship involves holding to Jesus' teachings, which leads to knowing the truth that sets us free. By fully surrendering control of our lives to Jesus, we ensure His perfect guidance and wisdom, bringing us peace and direction amidst life's challenges.

John 7

John 7:37-38 reveals that true spiritual renewal and abundant life flow from belief in Jesus, who offers living water to those who thirst. John 6

John 6:16-20 illustrates that amidst life's storms, Jesus is always with us, even when we feel overwhelmed and afraid. Just as He calmed the waters and brought peace to the disciples, He invites us to trust in His presence and strength to navigate our trials and find solace in His deliverance.
