I AM WHO I AM

Exodus 3:13-15 moves Moses from "Who am I?" to "Who are you?" He needs to know whose authority he is carrying into Pharaoh's court, and God answers with a name that depends on nothing outside itself: I AM WHO I AM. Not becoming, not evolving, not in process. In a conversation full of uncertainty God drops an anchor, because settling who God is settles who we are.

Everybody Wants Acts 2

Acts 2:1-4 gets the suddenly everybody wants—wind, fire, three thousand baptized—but verse 1 says they were still all together in one place, still in the room ten days later when nothing had happened. It's not a formula; nobody earned Pentecost. But the gift landed on the people who were still there, and most students who quit praying don't decide to—they just don't start again after a boring week. You can't schedule a suddenly; you can decide to be in the room, so don't quit on day four.

Too Wonderful to Count

Psalm 139:17-18 uses a giant picture—try counting the sand on one beach, then every beach in the world—to describe how often God thinks about you: more than all of it. Right now, tonight while you sleep, tomorrow when you wake, His thoughts about you never run out. Sometimes we feel forgotten, but you're never forgotten by God for one second. That's who you really are: a kid the God of the whole universe cannot stop thinking about.
