Hebrews 13:8 “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.”
Think
It’s strange how quickly we forget. One moment, we’re standing in awe of what God has done. Next, we’re doubting whether he’ll show up again.
We’ve seen him move before—answering impossible prayers, healing what was broken, restoring what was lost. But somehow, when the next challenge comes, fear speaks louder than memory. The pressure rises. The timeline tightens. And the whisper creeps in: What if this time is different? What if he doesn’t show up again?
We’re not alone in that fear. Even the disciples wrestled with it. They saw Jesus calm storms, feed thousands, and raise the dead. But still, when the wind picked up or the crowd pressed in, they panicked. Miracles in the past didn’t always translate to confidence in the present.
That’s why Hebrews 13:8 is so powerful. “Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.” He doesn’t evolve, fade, or forget. His compassion is not seasonal. His power is not conditional. The same voice that spoke the world into existence still speaks now. The same hands that reached for the broken still reach for you.
But life often feels like an empty stage.
The music has faded. The crowd is silent. You’re not sure if anything will happen next. Maybe your hope has gotten quiet. Maybe your prayers have grown short. Maybe this season feels like the part of the concert where the lights go up, and the band walks offstage.
But remember: walking offstage doesn’t mean they left the building.
At concerts, the encore is a tradition. The band steps away, and the crowd chants for more. “One more song! One more time!” And then—right when the lights start to dim—the band returns. Not because they have to. But because they want to. Because the people called. Because there’s more to give.
The God who moved in your life in 2023, 2024, and 2025 has not exited the building. He is not distant or disinterested. He is the same God who brought you through your lowest night. The same God who held you when grief stole your breath. The same God who provided when there was no plan. The same God who didn’t give up when you almost did.
He’s not just capable of doing something again. He wants to.
This is who he is. A God of encores.
He parted the Red Sea for Moses. And then 40 years later, parted the Jordan River for Joshua.
He multiplied oil for a desperate widow. And then did it again through Elisha, a generation later.
He fed the Israelites with manna in the wilderness. And then, centuries later, fed 5,000 through Jesus on a hillside.
This isn’t just biblical trivia. It’s proof that God doesn’t retire after one miracle. He doesn’t stop at a single breakthrough. He keeps moving, keeps redeeming, keeps repeating acts of grace in fresh and personal ways.
He doesn’t run out of power. He doesn’t run out of mercy. He doesn’t run out of love.
That’s why your story matters. Because it’s not just a moment from the past—it’s a setup for someone else’s future. When you tell your testimony, you create expectation. You spark faith in someone who forgot God was still working.
Psalm 78:4 says, “We will not hide them from their descendants; we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the Lord, his power, and the wonders he has done.”
Your kids need to hear how God carried you through that season. Your friends need to know how he showed up when you were at the end of yourself. Your church needs your voice, your memory, your miracle.
Don’t hide the history. Hand it off.
You’ve seen God move before. Why wouldn’t he move again?
Maybe right now you’re facing something new. A fresh challenge. A silent waiting room. An unanswered question. You’re tempted to panic. Tempted to assume this moment is different.
But take a breath. Rewind the tape. Think about the last time you thought it was over—and how God made a way. Think about the last time you couldn’t breathe—and how peace showed up. Think about the last prayer you didn’t think would be answered—and how grace snuck in when you least expected it.
If he did it before, he can do it again.
Even better—he might do something new.
God’s encores are never a repeat performance. They are fresh. Surprising. Specific to what you need right now. The encore you’re praying for may not look like the last miracle, but it will carry the same power, the same love, and the same goodness.
Don’t mistake silence for absence. Don’t confuse waiting with abandonment. The same God who once brought you through is getting ready to take the stage again.
He’s not finished.
Apply
Write down one time in your life where God clearly came through. Provision, healing, protection, direction—anything. Then look at one area in your life where you’re currently unsure, waiting, or afraid. Pray with confidence today: “God, you’ve done it before. I believe you’ll do it again.”
Pray
God, you haven’t changed. You’re the same today as you were yesterday. I’ve seen your power before, and I trust that you’re not done. Stir up my faith. Remind me of the ways you’ve moved. Give me boldness to believe for more. I’m calling for an encore. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
