Matthew 6:25-26 "'Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes? Look at the birds of the air; they do not sow or reap or store away in barns, and yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not much more valuable than they?'"

Think

Have you ever watched a bird in the morning? It hops around the yard, looking for a worm or a seed. It does not have a job. It does not have a refrigerator. It never once thinks, "What if I run out of food tomorrow?"

And yet the bird is fine. Every single morning, God makes sure there is something for it to eat. The bird just wakes up, sings a little, and trusts that today will be taken care of.

Now, here is something Jesus wants you to know. If God feeds a little bird that you can barely see up in a tree, how much more do you think he cares about you?

Jesus was talking to a big crowd of people who worried a lot. They worried about food. They worried about clothes. So Jesus pointed up at the sky and said, “Look at the birds. They do not plant gardens. They do not store food in barns. But your heavenly Father feeds them anyway.”

Then he asked the most important question: “Are you not much more valuable than they?” The answer is yes. You are worth so much more to God than a bird. You are his child.

Maybe you are starting a new school year this week. Maybe your stomach feels a little twisted up, like a knot in a shoelace. New teacher. New classroom. New faces you do not know yet. That worried feeling is real, and God is not mad at you for feeling it. But here is the good news. The same God who never forgets to feed the birds will not forget about you. Not for one second. He knows your name. He knows what you need before you even ask. He goes to school with you.

So the next time you feel worried, look for a bird. Let it remind you that if God takes care of that little thing, he is absolutely taking care of you.

Apply

Spot a bird today – Sometime today, look outside and find a bird. When you see it, say a quick thank you to God for taking care of it. Then remember he takes care of you even more.

Pray

God, thank you that you never forget to take care of the birds, and you never forget me either. When I feel worried about school, help me remember that I am your child and you are watching over me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
