Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”
Think
Here's a funny question. How do you sit in a chair?
It sounds silly but think about it. When you sit in a chair, you don't check the legs first. You don't perch on the very edge, holding yourself up with your feet, just in case. You plop right down. You lean all the way back. You trust that chair to hold you.
That is what it means to trust with all your heart. Not halfway. Not “just in case.” All the way.
This month's memory verse says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” It means leaning your whole self on God.
This week we watched Moses learn to trust God. And guess what? It did not happen all at once.
At first, Moses was full of questions. “Who am I?” “What if they don't believe me?” “What if I say it wrong?” You could say Moses was sitting on the edge of the chair. He wasn't sure God could hold him up.
But each time, God answered. “I will be with you.” “I will help you speak.” Step by step, Moses learned that God was strong enough to trust.
Have you ever jumped into a swimming pool toward a grown-up waiting to catch you? Standing on the edge can feel scary. The water looks deep. Your toes curl over the side. But then you look at their face and their arms, stretched out for you. They have caught you before. So, you count to three, and you jump!
Trusting God is a lot like that jump. You don't know everything that will happen. But you know who is waiting for you. And he has never let you down.
You can trust God with big stuff, like moving or someone in your family being sick. You can trust him with smaller stuff, like a spelling test or a hard day at recess. Nothing is too big for him and nothing is too small.
So lean back. Jump in. Trust him with all your heart.
God's got it. And God's got you.
Apply
Practice your verse – Say this month's memory verse three times today: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5. Then teach it to someone in your family at dinner.
Pray
God, I want to trust you with all my heart, not just part of it. Thank you for taking care of Moses and for taking care of me. You've got it, and you've got me. In Jesus' name. Amen.
