Proverbs 3:5 “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.”

Think

Do you remember learning to ride a bike without training wheels?

At first, it's wobbly. Really wobbly. A grown-up runs beside you, holding the back of the seat. “I've got you!” they say. You pedal, and you don't fall, because they're holding on.

The next time, you pedal a little farther. And the next time, a little farther still. Then one day you look back, and they're not holding the seat anymore. They're just smiling and cheering. You've been riding on your own!

How did that happen? Every time they held on and you didn't fall, your trust grew a little bit bigger.

Trusting God grows the same way. And this month, we've watched it happen in four different Bible stories.

Moses started out full of questions at the burning bush. “Who am I? What if they don't believe me?” But God showed him, “I will be with you.”

At the Red Sea, God's people were terrified. But God made a path right through the water, and their trust grew.

Elijah and the widow trusted God with a dried-up brook and a tiny handful of flour. And God kept providing, day after day.

Hezekiah trusted God with a scary letter and a scary sickness. And God heard every prayer.

Each time, God held on. Each time, trust grew bigger.

That's how it works with you too. You don't have to trust God perfectly all at once. Nobody does. You start where you are. You take one wobbly step of trust. You see God come through. And next time, it's a little easier.

This month's memory verse says, “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Maybe you can say it by heart now. That's awesome! But even more important than knowing the words is living them.

So keep pedaling. Keep trusting. God is right beside you, holding on. Every day, your trust can grow a little bigger.

And here's the big idea from this whole month, one more time: God's got it. He really does.

Apply

Say it by heart – Try saying the memory verse without looking: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart.” Proverbs 3:5. Then tell your family your favorite Bible story from this month and how it helps you trust God.

Pray

God, thank you for all the ways you showed your people they could trust you. Help my trust in you grow bigger every day. I know you've got it. In Jesus' name. Amen.
