2 Timothy 3:16-17 "All Scripture is God-breathed and is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting and training in righteousness, so that the servant of God may be thoroughly equipped for every good work."
Think
Imagine someone hands you a big job, like building a birdhouse, but gives you no tools at all. No hammer, no nails, no saw. You would be stuck before you even started. Now imagine they hand you a full toolbox with everything you need. Suddenly the job feels possible.
Today’s verse says the Bible makes us thoroughly equipped for every good work. Equipped is a great word. It means having the right tools ready to go. God gave us the Bible so we would have exactly what we need to live the life he is calling us to live.
Yesterday we learned the Bible is God-breathed. Today we see what all that breath is for. It is not just to fill our heads with information. It is to get us ready for real life, to actually do good things in the world.
Think about how many tools are inside this one book. When you do not know what is true, the Bible teaches you. When you mess up, it gently shows you a better way. When you need to be brave or kind or patient, it trains you and builds those things in you. It is the fullest toolbox you will ever have.
Here is the bridge. God does not just want you to read the Bible so you can pass a test about it. He wants those words to become tools you actually use. When a hard moment comes at school or at home, the Bible you have read becomes the tool you reach for.
So as you read this week, do not just collect facts. Collect tools. Every verse you learn is one more thing in your toolbox, ready for the day you need it. And you will need it. That is exactly what it is for.
The best part is that this toolbox never runs empty. The more you read, the more tools you have. A kid who fills up on God’s words is ready for just about anything life brings. And you can start filling your toolbox today.
Apply
Grab a tool – Think of one thing that is hard for you right now, like being patient or telling the truth. Ask a parent or teacher to help you find one Bible verse about it. That verse is your new tool.
Pray
God, thank you for giving me the Bible as a full toolbox for my life. Help me not just read it but use it. When I face something hard, remind me of your words. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
