Psalm 139:14 (NIrV) “How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that. What you have done is wonderful. I know that very well.”

Think

Press your thumb on a stamp pad or rub it with a washable marker. Then press it on a piece of paper. Now look really closely at your thumbprint. See all those tiny swirls and lines?

Here’s a cool fact. Nobody else in the whole world has that exact thumbprint. Not your mom. Not your best friend. Not even a twin! Out of billions of people on earth, your fingerprints belong to you alone.

God designed you down to the tiniest swirl on your thumb.

A man named David once thought about how God made him. He got so excited that he wrote a song about it. Part of that song is our memory verse for this month.

“How you made me is amazing and wonderful.”

David wasn’t bragging. He wasn’t saying, “Look how awesome I am!” He was saying, “Look how awesome God is! Look how he made me!”

That’s what we learned all week. God made people in his image. He gave us a job taking care of his world. He planned food for us before we were hungry. He looked at everything he made and said, “Very good.” He sent Jesus to show us what he is like. And he wants us to treat every person like the masterpiece they are.

So when you think about how God made you, what should you do? The next part of the verse tells us. “I praise you for that.”

To praise means to tell God how great he is. Look at your fingerprints, your freckles, or the way you can run or draw or make people laugh. Then you can say, “Thank you, God. You did a great job!”

Some days it’s easy to believe you’re amazing and wonderful. Other days it’s hard. But God’s work doesn’t change based on how you feel. He made you on purpose, one of a kind.

So look at your thumb one more time. Nobody else has one like it.

And nobody else is exactly like you.

Apply

Make a thumbprint – Make your thumbprint on a piece of paper. Under it, write the first part of the memory verse: “How you made me is amazing and wonderful.” Hang it where you’ll see it every day.

Pray

God, thank you for making me one of a kind. How you made me is amazing and wonderful. I praise you for that! Help me believe it, even on hard days. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
