Psalm 139:1-3 "You have searched me, Lord, and you know me. You know when I sit and when I rise; you perceive my thoughts from afar. You discern my going out and my lying down; you are familiar with all my ways."
Think
Think about the person who knows you best in the whole world. Maybe it is your mom or dad. They know your favorite food. They know what makes you laugh. They can tell when something is wrong just by looking at your face.
It feels good to be known like that, doesn't it? To have someone who really gets you. Now here is something amazing. God knows you even better than that. Way better.
King David wrote this psalm, and he was blown away by how well God knew him. Listen to what he said. God knows when I sit down and when I stand up. God knows my thoughts before I even think them all the way. God knows every single one of my ways.
That means God knows everything about you. He knows the thoughts inside your head that you never say out loud. He knows what you are excited about and what you are scared about. He knows the real you, not just the you that other people see.
Sometimes we worry that if people really knew us, all the way down deep, they might not like us. Maybe you have a thought like that. What if people knew I get scared? What if they knew I feel different?
But here is the beautiful truth. God already knows all of it. Every thought. Every feeling. Every part. He has searched you all the way through, and he still loves you completely. He is not going anywhere.
You do not have to hide from God. You do not have to pretend with him. He already knows the real you, and the real you is exactly who he wants to be close to.
This whole week we are learning who we really are. And it starts right here. You are fully known by God, and you are fully loved. Nothing about you surprises him, and nothing about you scares him away.
Apply
Tell God something real – Find a quiet moment today and tell God one true thing about yourself, maybe something you do not tell many people. Remember, he already knows, and he loves you anyway.
Pray
God, it is amazing that you know everything about me, even my thoughts. Thank you that you know the real me and love me anyway. Help me stop hiding and just be myself with you. In Jesus' name. Amen.
