From Workplace to Worship Space

April 25, 2020

Read

Colossians 3:23, “Whatever you do, work at it with all of your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”

Think

The famed composer, J.S. Bach, made a timeless and profound impact on the classical music world. Interestingly, on every manuscript, he wrote, “To God Be the Glory!” What a great lesson from this musical genius! This reminds us that in everything we do, we should give our all because God gave His all.Today’s scripture shouts, “Put the pedal to the metal in all you do, regardless of your line of work! As we strive to incorporate creativity into every aspect of our lives — even in the workplace — we turn the spotlight away from ourselves and toward God, where it rightly belongs.A great reminder to pour your heart into your work is to think about whose name is stamped on each task or project: your name, your boss’s name, your company name, and, ultimately, God’s name! When you consider that your job represents so many names, you’ll approach each day with a creative and compelling perspective. So, turn your workplace into a worship space to bring God the glory He deserves!

Act

Today, whatever you do, mentally stamp “To God be the glory” on it. Do it with all your heart and think of ways to approach even the most mundane tasks in a creative and compelling way!

Pray

God, you gave Your all and I want to give my all to You. Give me the desire and drive to achieve excellence, so that I will bring glory and honor to Your name. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
