Can You Lose Your Salvation?
Read
John 10:28-29 "I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand."
Think
One of the most reassuring truths about salvation is that it is secure in God’s hands, not ours. When we come to faith in Christ, we are sealed by the Holy Spirit. Ephesians 1:13 says, “When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit.” This seal is like God’s signature on our lives, guaranteeing that we belong to him forever.
A.W. Pink beautifully said, “The sealing of the Spirit is the sure mark that God has set upon his people. Nothing can break this seal—it is divine, and it is eternal.” Pink’s words highlight the truth that this seal isn’t just a temporary mark; it is God’s eternal promise that we are his. The Holy Spirit is both a protector and a guarantee, ensuring that nothing can undo what God has done in us.
Theologian Warren Wiersbe also notes that the Holy Spirit is God’s deposit, guaranteeing our inheritance. Our salvation doesn’t depend on our ability to keep ourselves faithful, but on God’s power to preserve us. Philippians 1:6 reminds us, "He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion.” The Holy Spirit works in us daily, giving us assurance and peace that we are secure in Christ.
So, can you lose your salvation? The answer is “No!” If you truly belong to Christ, the Holy Spirit has sealed you; nothing can break that seal. Rest in the confidence that your salvation is secure—not because of your strength, but because of God’s unfailing promise.
Apply
Take John 10:28-29, write it down, and place it somewhere visible (like a mirror or desk). Remind yourself that your salvation is not dependent on your perfection but on God’s unfailing grace and power.
Pray
Lord, I am grateful that my salvation is secure in your hands, not because of anything I have done, but because of your unfailing love and grace. Help me trust your daily promises, knowing nothing can separate me from your love. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
