Applause From Heaven

January 19, 2022

Read

Psalm 19:14, “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.”

Think

“Our words matter to God, so they should matter to us!”

One of our biggest goals in life should be to please God. One of the ways we can do this is to make sure that all of our words align with God’s Word. We need to speak words of encouragement, words of truth, words of compassion, and words of mercy to those within our sphere of influence.

Matthew 15:18 says, “What comes out of the mouth starts in the heart.” God wants us to have a heart for making a difference in the lives of others, carried out through what we say and how we say it. Within communication, 7% of what we say is with words, 38% is tone, and 55% is expressions. These telling statistics should remind us that our non-verbal communication is just as important as what we say, and this means we must choose our words wisely and be intentional about our tone and inflection.

Our communication reaches far beyond the person in front of us. When we allow God to speak through us, we will not only see changed lives on earth, we will receive applause from heaven. Our words extend far beyond what we can see or even imagine!

Act

Today, as you engage in normal daily conversations, picture Jesus standing right next to you, listening intently to everything you say. Keep this image in the forefront of your mind as a reminder to make every word count.

Pray

God, I want to please you in everything I do. Today, guide my words as I up the ante in how I communicate with others. Today’s scripture is my prayer. “Let the words of my mouth and the meditation of my heart be acceptable in Your sight, O Lord, my rock and my redeemer.” Amen.
