A Little Each Day

Think about learning to shoot a basketball. Nobody makes a hundred perfect shots the first day. But a kid who shoots ten baskets a day, every single day, gets amazing over time. It is not one giant practice that makes the difference. It is a little bit, done over and over.

We started the week with this verse about daily bread, and we are coming back to it because it holds a secret about reading the Bible. The secret is that small and steady beats big and rare almost every time.

Some kids think they need to read a huge chunk of the Bible all at once or it does not count. But remember the bread. Jesus said daily bread, not once-a-month bread. A few verses today, a few verses tomorrow, a few the next day. That adds up to something strong.

Here is the bridge. You do not have to understand the whole Bible this week. You just have to show up hungry, day after day, and let God feed you a little at a time. Those little bites stack up into a heart that knows God well.

And here is something encouraging. God is not standing over you with a stopwatch, checking how many pages you read. He just loves spending time with you. Two minutes with God, done with your whole heart, is worth more than an hour done just to check a box. He cares about your heart, not your page count.

So this weekend, keep it simple. Read a little. Think about it. Come back tomorrow. Like ten baskets a day, those small moments will grow into something you never expected. A real friendship with God. And a friendship like that is built the same way every good friendship is, by spending a little time together, over and over, again and again.

Keep it small and steady – Pick a time you will read the Bible every day, like right after breakfast or just before bed. Even two or three verses counts. Small and steady wins.

God, help me come to you a little bit every day instead of waiting for one big moment. Thank you that you are happy just to spend time with me. Feed my heart day by day. In Jesus’ name. Amen.
